Why choose HomeSnag: New Build Snagging Specialists
HomeSnag is one of the UK’s leading specialist new build snagging companies, helping homeowners identify defects in newly built properties before they become their problem to resolve.
For more than a decade, our surveyors have inspected tens of thousands of new build homes across the UK, from individual properties built by small independent developers to homes constructed by the country’s largest house builders.
Unlike a general building surveyor who may occasionally inspect new builds, new build snagging is what we specialise in every day.

HomeSnag: At a glance…
Qualified Surveyors, Not Just a Snagging Checklist
A snagging survey is only as good as the person carrying it out.
HomeSnag inspections are undertaken by qualified surveyors with specialist knowledge of new build construction, workmanship standards and applicable tolerances.
Our surveyors inspect new homes every day and understand both the obvious cosmetic defects and the more technical problems that homeowners may never notice themselves.
This experience allows us to identify everything from poor finishes and incorrectly installed components to defects hidden within walls, roof spaces and other areas of the property.

We Go Beyond What You Can See
We find the issues with your New-build before it’s too late. Ensuring Peace of Mind for Every Homeowner.
Some of the most important defects in a new build home aren’t visible to the naked eye. Depending on the survey instructed, our inspections can incorporate specialist equipment and techniques including:
- Thermal imaging to identify heat loss, cold air ingress and insulation anomalies
- Borescope inspections to investigate concealed areas such as wall cavities
- Laser levels and specialist measuring equipment to assess levels and tolerances
- Smoke testing to help identify unwanted air leakage
- Detailed photographic and video evidence of defects
We’ve invested heavily in inspection technology because a professional snagging survey should involve more than simply walking around a property looking for cosmetic imperfections.

Reports Designed to Help Get Snags Fixed
Finding a defect is only part of the job.
HomeSnag has spent years developing its own bespoke inspection and reporting system specifically for new build properties.
Where appropriate, our reports don’t simply state what is wrong. They provide clear photographs and even video evidence alongside relevant tolerances and guidance. For the most pressing snags we assign the entry with a red (urgent) or amber (important) significance banner.
This provides homeowners with a detailed, professional record they can submit to their house builder.

Experience Across the UK’s House-Building Industry
Over the past decade, HomeSnag has inspected properties constructed by virtually every major UK house builder, as well as hundreds of smaller and independent developers.
That breadth of experience gives our surveyors a valuable understanding of recurring new build defects and how construction quality can vary between developers, sites and even neighbouring properties.
We use this real-world inspection experience to educate homeowners through our website and social channels and to publish independent analysis of new build quality.
This experience allows us to identify everything from poor finishes and incorrectly installed components to defects hidden within walls, roof spaces and other areas of the property.

Independent Customer Feedback!
HomeSnag has accumulated thousands of customer reviews across independent review platforms including Google, Trustpilot and Reviews.io.
Rather than relying on testimonials selected by us, we encourage prospective customers to read independent feedback from homeowners who have already used our snagging services.

RICS Regulated
HomeSnag is a RICS-regulated firm, providing customers with the additional reassurance that the company operates within the professional and ethical framework required by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Our focus is not on producing the longest possible list of minor cosmetic observations. Our priority is providing a thorough, independent assessment of the property and identifying the defects that matter.
Recognised New Build Expertise
Our experience inspecting new build homes has led to HomeSnag being regularly approached for expert comment on new build construction and housing quality.
HomeSnag and our surveyors have featured in national newspapers, online publications and television coverage discussing defects, workmanship and the experiences of new build homeowners.
We have also received multiple independent industry awards for our snagging services.

Why Have a Professional New Build Snagging Survey?
Buying a home is likely to be one of the largest purchases you’ll ever make.
A property being brand new doesn’t mean it will be defect-free. Our surveyors regularly identify issues ranging from minor finishing defects to missing insulation, drainage problems, incorrectly installed components and significant construction defects.
Our job is simple:
To inspect your new home independently, identify what has been missed and give you the evidence you need to get it put right.
That’s why thousands of new build homeowners have trusted HomeSnag to inspect their properties.
